Fridgenie Privacy Policy

Fridgenie ("we", "our", "the app") is a kitchen inventory and recipe discovery app. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

• Email address (via email signup, or Apple Sign-In)
• Display name (you choose this)
• Authentication identifiers from Apple (if using social login)

Kitchen & Preference Data

• Pantry/fridge/freezer inventory items you add
• Shopping list items
• Cooking preferences (cuisine, skill level, dietary restrictions, taste profile)
• Household information (name, size, invite code)
• Recipe search history and favorites

Voice & Image Data

• Voice input: Audio recordings are sent to our server for transcription, then immediately deleted. We do not store audio recordings.
• Receipt scanning: Receipt images are processed for text extraction, then immediately deleted. We do not store receipt images.

Usage Data

We do not use third-party analytics or tracking SDKs. We do not collect device identifiers, location data, or browsing history.

2. How We Use Your Data

• To provide the core app experience (inventory management, recipe suggestions)
• To personalize recipe recommendations based on your preferences and inventory
• To enable household sharing features
• To process voice input and receipt scans

3. AI Processing

We use AI services (OpenAI) to:

• Transcribe voice input to text
• Extract items from receipt images
• Generate personalized recipe suggestions

Your inventory data and preferences are sent to AI services solely for these purposes. We do not use your data to train AI models.

4. Data Storage & Security

• Your data is stored securely on Supabase (hosted on AWS)
• All data is transmitted over HTTPS/TLS encryption
• Row-level security ensures you can only access your own data
• We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties

5. Household Sharing

When you join a household, other household members can see shared data (pantry items, shopping lists). Your personal preferences and account details remain private.

6. Data Retention & Deletion

• Your data is retained as long as you have an active account
• You can delete your account at any time from the Profile screen in the app
• When you delete your account, all your personal data is permanently removed
• Voice recordings and receipt images are deleted immediately after processing

7. Children's Privacy

Fridgenie is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your data (visible in the app)
• Correct your data (editable in Profile)
• Delete your account and all associated data
• Export your data (contact us)

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes through the app.
